The Dogwood Farm
The driveway for the 70 acre farm is part of the James River and Kanawha Turnpike, the major transportation route linking Virginia with the states to the West. Dogwood Ridge Farms is thought to be an encampment known as “Dogwood Gap” during the Civil War, where Generals Floyd and Wise were in charge. When you reach the top of the property you will see why it was chosen for the camp as the view covers 360 degrees of the surrounding area. Hiking on the mowed trails provide great views of the plateau, exceptional ever changing sunsets, along with gorgeous star filled skies at night. The property was purchased in 1987 and has had no chemicals, fertilizers or other additives to the soil, wild animals and birds seem to know that the grounds are kept organically so you are treated to many animal sightings.
